Follow the recommended safety instructions (see 5040 - Precautions).
Removing ( Refitting )     Op. 4110D20 STEERING ELECTRICAL CONTROL DEVICE - R RDrain the refrigerant fluid (    Op. 0010T84 COOLANT FOR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DEHYDRATE AND RECHARGE).Remove the components in the engine compartment that prevent access to the expansion valve.1. Undo the bolt (1a) and disconnect the connector (1b) for the pipe from the expansion valve to the compressor.
Seal the connectors that have been disconnected using suitable plugs to prevent dampness and impurities from entering the system.
2. Undo the bolt (2a) and disconnect the connector (2) for the pipe from the expansion valve to the condenser.Prepare a suitable container for collecting the coolant.3. Open the retaining bands (3a) and disconnect the heater fluid inlet and outlet pipes (3b).Collect the coolant and seal the pipes to prevent foreign bodies from entering.4. Undo the nut.
1. Working on the right side of the passenger compartment, disconnect the eyelet.

1. Working on the left side of the passenger compartment, disconnect the electrical connections (1a and 1b).

2. Disconnect the electrical connections at the junction unit and at the body computer (2a, 2b, 2c).

1. Working on the right side of the tunnel under the dashboard, lower the edge (1a) of the carpet. Undo the nut releasing the eyelet (1b) for the Air Bag control unit.

2. Disconnect the front electrical connection (2a) at the Air Bag control unit (2b).

1. Release the wiring (1a) from the retainer (1b).2. Undo the nuts (2a) and the bolt (2b) and fold the gear lever assembly (2c) backwards.3. Undo the bolts fixing the brackets.4. Remove the brackets.
1. Undo the bolts2. Remove the left side bracket.
1. Undo the bolts securing the crossmember under the dashboard.2. Remove the crossmember complete with air conditioning casing.
Disconnect the electrical connections for the dashboard wiring and release the cable from the bands and from the retainers.
See the Wiring Diagrams Section for the precise identification of the electrical connections.
1. Undo the three bolts (1a) and remove the air duct (1b).
1. Undo the four nuts (1a) and separate the air conditioning casing (1b) from the crossmember (1c).
Refitting ( Removing ) Check that the air conditioning casing is not damaged.Fasten the air conditioning casing to the crossmember using the nuts.

Position the upper air duct and secure it using the bolts.Connect the electrical connections for the dashboard wiring and secure it using the retainers and the bands.Position the crossmember complete with air conditioner and tighten the bolts to the recommended torque.

Connect the connection for the Air Bag control unit and the earth.Position the crossmember mounting brackets and secure them using the bolts.

Position the gear lever assembly and fasten it using the nuts.Connect the electrical connections on both sides of the dashboard.Working via the engine compartment, tighten the nut fixing the air conditioning casing to the dashboard bulkhead.

Reconnect the heater coolant inlet and outlet pipes, then secure them using the retaining bands.
Connect the connectors for the refrigerant fluid pipes to the expansion valve.Replace the O rings for the connectors. Only use green coloured seals that are resistant to R134a refrigerant fluid. Lubricate the connector threads using anti-freeze.

Reposition the components removed previously in the engine compartment.    Op. 4110D20 STEERING ELECTRICAL CONTROL DEVICE - R RRepressurize the refrigerant fluid (    Op. 0010T84 COOLANT FOR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DEHYDRATE AND RECHARGE.Top up the engine coolant level.
