184002183 - E4010 INSTRUMENT PANEL - FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

Functional description

The ignition-operated power supply (INT) of the instrument panel E50 reaches pin 3 of connector A through the line of fuse F37 of the unit under the dashboard B2; the direct supply reaches pin 2 of connector A through the line of fuse F53 of the unit under the dashboard B2; pin 1 of connector A is earthed (earth controlled by the Body Computer M1 pin 36 of connector G).The instrument panel E50 is connected from pins 5 and 6 of connector A to the Body Computer M1 and via the latter to the whole CAN network: via CAN the signal for the electronic speedometer arrives (coming from the ABS control unit M50): this signal is replicated from pin 23 of M50 (ABS) or from pin 33 of M50 (ESP) to pin 7 of connector A of the Body Computer M1.The electronic rev counter receives the rpm signal coming via CAN from the engine management control unit M10 .The fuel gauge is controlled in accordance with the signals coming from the fuel gauge sender unit located in the fuel pump assembly N40 - at pins 4 (positive) and 15 (negative) of connector D of the Body Computer M1, and from here via CAN to the instrument panel E50.The low brake fluid/handbrake applied warning light comes on through an earth signal from the handbrake switch I40, which reaches pin 14 of connector D of the Body Computer M1, or from the signal from the low brake fluid level sensor K25: if the brake fluid level is too low, the contact closes or opens sending an earth signal to pin 18 of connector A of the Body Computer M1.All these signals are transferred via CAN to the instrument panel E50 . The''MODE'' ''+'' and ''-'' controls for unit H91 send analogue signals to the instrument panel E50 to pins 13 and 16 of connector B. The TRIP function is shown in the relevant diagram    See E4080 TRIP COMPUTER.Instrument panel E50 also contains electronic modules that control the adjustment of the headlamp alignment and the parking sensors buzzer .
