Description

The front courtesy light includes two courtesy lights with two control switches.

The left switch (A) can be used to select the following operating modes:

  • centre position: both lights on with timed delay dependent on the opening of the doors;
  • left position: both lights permanently off;
  • right position: both lights permanently on.

The right switch (B) can be used two switch on one of the functions only (spot function):

  • left position: left light permanently on;
  • right position: right light permanently on;
  • centre position: both lights permanently off.

The two rear ceiling lights have a courtesy light with different operating modes depending on the position of the actual lens cover which activates an internal switch:

  • neutral position: light on with a delay dependent on the opening of the doors;
  • position to one side: light always off;
  • position to the other side: light permanently on.

The courtesy light timed delay is based on a logic managed by the integrated services control unit located under the dashboard that can be summed up as follows: when any of the four doors is unlocked, all the front and rear courtesy lights come on with a timed delay:

  • a period of 6 seconds from when the locks are unlocked using the key or remote control;
  • a period of 6 seconds from when one of the doors opened previously is closed again; this period is interrupted when the ignition key is turned ON (this function makes it possible to enter the vehicle and insert the key in the lock barrel)
  • a period of 3 minutes if one of the doors remains open (this function makes it possible not to run the battery down if the vehicle is left with one of the doors open)
When one of the other doors is opened the calculation of the timed period starts again from the beginning.The courtesy lights are switched on and off gradually (dimmer function) over a period lasting around 3 seconds.The courtesy lights circuit is protected by a special fuse in the junction unit.
