The vehicle brake lights are located at the rear in the side light clusters and in the special central third brake light, consisting of 10 separate bulbs. All three bulbs are operated each time the brake pedal is pressed via a switch on the actual pedal. The circuit is supplied with the ignition
switched ON and is protected by a fuse, in the junction unit. The braking signal is also sent from the switch to the ABS which recognizes the situation and consequently controls the actual braking. The same signal is also sent to the JTD engine management system which takes the braking condition into account when processing the engine management logic. On versions with radios a switch is fitted on the brake pedal with an interference filter to prevent radio interference when the pedal is pressed.
