2892448 - Introduction - AIR CONDITIONING CASING AND COMPONENTS

Heat exchanger

This device is designed (with a relatively small volume compared with the heat exchange surfaces) to allow the flow of heat from the fluid at a higher temperature to another fluid at ambient temperature.

R134a refrigerant fluid

The climate control system uses the environmentally friendly fluid R134a, free of chlorofluorocarbons (CFC), one of the chemical agents which is the cause of the reduction in the ozone layer. Systems running on R134a can be easily recognized by "R134a" written on the main components.R134a refrigerant fluid cannot be mixed with Freon R12 used in climate control systems on previous vehicles; therefore never use Freon R12 in air conditioning systems operating on R134a.All the system components are specifically for use with R134a and are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE with those from previous vehicles using Freon R12.The anti-freeze for lubricating the compressor is also specific and differs from the one used in systems running on Freon R12.

Resistive divider

This is an electrical device which makes it possible to vary the output voltage, like the input voltage, by altering the number of resistances in series through which the electrical current flows, via a special control. It is usually used to alter the speed of a connected consumer motor.

Recirculation

This is a function of the ventilation system which makes it possible to circulate the same air in the passenger compartment, excluding the intake of outside air. It is a very useful function because it makes it possible to exclude the intake of undesired outside air into the passenger compartment (fumes, air polluted by driving in traffic, etc.).
