Description
The vehicle is fitted with an autonomous
additional heater in case the passenger compartment needs to be
heated more quickly, with the engine running, if the climatic conditions are
particularly harsh.The system basically consists of:
- a heater unit fixed to the front suspension crossmember
and the underbody floor panel
- an electric fuel pump fixed to the underbody near the
fuel tank
- an outside air temperature sensor positioned under the
left front light cluster
- an exhaust pipe connected directly to the heater unit
An electronic control unit integrated in
the unit controls the switching on, the maintenance and the switching
off of the heater. The ignition of the mixture is guaranteed
by a spark plug, the combustion is ensured by the air coming from
a special fan and the fuel coming from an electric metering pump. The heat produced in the combustion chamber
is surrendered to the engine coolant which comes into contact with
it. The exhaust gases are expelled through a special exhaust pipe.
