The driveshafts, the intermediate shaft
and the constant velocity joints make up the 'axle' assembly and
transmit the movement from the gearbox differential to the drive
wheels.The presence of an intermediate shaft is
due to the need to have the right and left driveshafts of the same
length, with the advantages of maintaining direction during acceleration
and less vibration.
