1. Secure the engine to a hydraulic lift using the lifting hooks positioned on the cylinder head.2. Fit the plate for securing the engine to the bellhousing seat and tighten the fixing bolts.

3. Using the hydraulic lift, move the engine until the plate for securing the engine to the seat on the rotating overhaul stand (3a) is in position then tighten the plate securing bolt (3b).

Remove the hoist and the hydraulic lift.

Undo the plug and drain the engine oil.Collect the engine oil in a suitable container.1. Undo the fixing nuts (1a) and disconnect the electrical connections (1b) for the alternator.

2. Disconnect the electrical connection for the engine management control unit.

3. Disconnect the engine compartment/injection cable electrical coupling.

Release the fastening.4. Remove the engine wiring.

1. Using an ordinary spanner (1a) rotate the tensioner (1b) in an anti-clockwise direction and secure it using a suitable size drift (1c).Mark the direction of rotation of the auxiliary drive belt.2. Release and remove the auxiliary shaft drive belt.Remove the drift and ordinary spanner.

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the timing side engine support.

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the upper timing cover.

1. Disconnect the electrical connections for the compressor (1a), the oil pressure sensor (1b) and the timing sensor (1c).

2. Remove the fastening for the wiring on the timing cover.

2. Undo the fixing bolt (2a) and disconnect the engine management control unit earth (2b).

2. Disconnect the electrical connection for the fuel vapour recovery solenoid valve.

3. Undo the fixing bolt (3a) and disconnect the earths (3b).

2. Undo the fixing nut (2a) and disconnect the earth (2b).3. Disconnect the engine oil level sensor electrical connection.

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the air flow meter.

1. Disonnect the electrical connection for the EGR solenoid valve.

3. Disconnect the coolant temperature electrical connection.

4. Release the cable ducts.

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the engine rpm sensor.

Release the wiring from the fastening bands and remove it.1. Disconnect the blow-by oil vapour recovery pipe.2. Disconnect the pipe on the thermostat.3. Undo the fixing bolts (3a) and remove the throttle casing (3b).

1. Undo the remaining fixing bolts.2. Remove the engine management control unit.

1. Disconnect the vacuum pipe.2. Undo the fixing bolt (2a) and disconnect the earth (2b).

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the air chamber.

1. Undo the fixing bolts (1a) and disconnect the rigid EGR pipe (1b) from the cylinder head and keep the gasket.

1. Undo the retaining nus and bolts.2. Remove the intake manifold complete with injectors, pneumatic actuator and EGR solenoid valve.3. Remove the seal.

1. Undo the retaining bolt.2. Remove the engine oil dipstick pipe.

1. Undo the bolts fixing the rigid pipe attachment flange to the water pump.Keep the OR seal.2. Undo the bolt fixing the rigid pipe to the engine block.3. Undo the thermostat retaining bolts.4. Remove the thermostat complete with water pump rigid pipe.5. Remove the seal.

1. Release the coil cover.2. Undo the retaining bolts.3. Remove the ignition coils.

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the tappet cover and gasket.

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the exhaust side duct.

1. Undo the retaining bolt.2. Remove the timing side engine lifting bracket.

1. Undo the retaining bolt.2. Remove the gearbox side engine lifting bracket.

1. Undo the retaining bolt.2. Remove the auxiliary belt tensioner.

1. Position the reaction tool and secure it to the crankshaft using the flywheel fixing bolts.

Prevent the rotation of the crankshaft using the tool fitted previously.

1. Undo the fixing bolt (1a) and keep the washer (1b).2. Remove the drive pulley.

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the lower timing cover.

1. Using a suitable spanner (1a) discharge the tension for the toothed timing drive belt rotating the moving tensioner (1b) in a clockwise direction until the ordinary tool (1d) can be inserted in the opening (1c) and the tensioner locked.Mark the direction of rotation of the toothed timing drive belt.2. Remove the toothed timing belt.

1. Undo the retaining bolt.2. Remove the timing toothed belt moving tensioner.

1. Prevent the rotation of the inlet camshaft.2. Undo the fixing bolt (2a) and keep the washer (2b).3. Remove inlet side pulley.

1. Prevent the rotation of the exhaust camshaft.2. Undo the fixing bolt (2a) and keep the washer (2b).3. Remove the exhaust side pulley.

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the timing pulley shield (2a) complete with timing sensor (2b).

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the mounting.

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the cylinder head.

1. Remove the cylinder head gasket.

Rotate the overhaul stand.1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Using the tool (2a), cut the bead of sealant and remove the oil sump (2b).
