CAMSHAFTS
Two ductile cast iron overhead camshafts operated by a toothed belt. - There are suitably directed cams on the camshafts with a suitable profile, in the same number as the valves to be operated; at the front they are prepared for fitting the toothed pullies by means of which they receive the movement from the crankshaft by mens of a suitably tensioned toothed belt (see chapter on "procedures for repairs").
Z16XEP ENGINE TOOTHED BELT TRANSMISSION
The transmission of the drive from the crankshaft to the camshafts takes place by means of a toothed belt which is 24 mm wide. The belt tensioner is the automatic retensioning type. The timing gears have flanging for guiding the toothed belt; the flanging on the inlet side camshaft gear is on the outside at the top, whilst the flanging on the exhaust side camshaft gear is on the inside.
