Wait at least 20 seconds after switching off the engine before disconnecting the battery, to allow the electric steering system to complete its switch-off procedure.

- 4110A16 steering wheel - r r for replacement or checks for versions with airbag and manual gearbox with hydraulic selection . - 7040A26 steering column trim - r+r - 5550A12 complete stalk unit - r+r for versions with air bag . - 7040A44 facia lh side cover - r r . - 4110D20 steering electrical control device - r r . 1. At the bench, undo the safety bolt on the top fork of the steering column shaft.2. Remove the steering column shaft.

Refitting ( Removing

) Position and fix the steering column shaft to the electric steering device, tightening the bolt to the specified torque.

The intermediate shaft fork must be inserted fully in the electric steering device output shaft only after the lock nut has been withdrawn from its seating. The bolt must be inserted correctly inside its seating after the fork has been fitted in the output shaft of the electric steering device. If the intermediate shaft fork is not correctly fitted on the output shaft or the safety bolt is not correctly positioned in its seating, these components could become disconnected and there could be a loss of steering.
