Position the vehicle on a two column lift.Raise the vehicle and, with the shock absorber unladen, check that the dust cover is at the end on the shock absorber collar as illustrated in the diagram.

If the dust cover is completely covering the collar or ends lower down, it is possible that the buffer is not correctly fitted in the shock absorber upper mounting.
