Release the two ends (2a) from the idler unit and move the gear selection and engagement flexible cables (2b) out of the work area.

1. Undo the retaining bolts.2. Remove the clutch release cylinder pipe guard.

1. Lift up the clip (1a) and disconnect the pipe (1b) from the housing on the gearbox.2. Place the clutch release cylinder fluid pipe at the side.3. Disconnect the electrical connection for the reversing light switch.

Disconnect the earth lead from the gearbox.

1. Unscrew the upper gearbox fixing bolts.

Undo the bolts fixing the steering knuckle to the shock absorber.2. Undo the bolts fixing the driveshaft to the differential.

1. Fit the tool (1a) complete with mountings (1b).

2. Fit the tools (2a) and (2b), then connect them to the brackets fitted previously using the links (2c).

1. Undo the bolt (1a) and remove the engine flywheel guard (1b).2. Undo the front bolt and the rear bolt for the gearbox.3. Undo the nut fixing the gearbox to the cylinder block/crankcase.

Position a suitable container for collecting the transmission fluid.1. Undo the gearbox and differential oil drain plug.

1. Undo the nut fixing the flexible mounting to the rigid support.2. Undo the bolts fixing the mounting to the bodyshell.3. Remove the flexible mounting.

1. Undo the bolt fixing the bellhousing.2. Position the tool for supporting the gearbox during the removal.3. Fasten the tool using the bolt loosened previously and a bolt for securing the rear part.4. Undo the side bolt fixing the bellhousing to the cylinder block/crankcase.

1. Undo the bolts (1a) fixing the gearbox to the cylinder block/crankcase, then remove the gearbox and differential unit (1b).

Refitting ( Removing

) Position the gearbox-differential unit.Tighten the bolts and the nuts fixing the gearbox to the cylinder block/crankcase to torque.

Remove the support tool used for the removal.

Fit the flexible mounting in the housing in the engine compartment.Tighten the bolts securing the flexible mounting to the body to torque.

Tighten the nut fixing the block to the rigid mounting to torque.

Tighten the differential fluid plug.Fit the rear engine flywheel guard.Remove the tools for supporting the power unit positioned previously.

Connect the driveshaft to the differential and tighten the fixing bolts to torque.
