3360127 - 1072D MODULAR INLET MANIFOLD (V.I.S.)
DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS
Modular intake manifold
Specifications
TypeIt is an intake manifold of modular length controlled by the injection control unit that allows volumetric efficiency to be increased and thereby:
- optimise torque delivery at low/medium speeds;
- increase power at high speeds.
Composition
StructureThe modular intake manifold consists of:
- two nylon halves;
- a group of 4 throttles on the same axis, designed to open/close the short branches of the inlet ducts;
- a vacuum accumulator formed inside the manifold;
- a modular intake control actuator.
Operation
IntroductionThe injection control unit controls a two-way solenoid (1) that puts the vacuum accumulator (2) into communication with pneumatic actuator (3), which allows the opening/closing movement of the throttles (4) by means of linkage.This movements allows the ducts to assume the following configurations:inlet with long ducts (from 2000 rpm to 5400 rpm, at medium-high engine loads): in this position the solenoid valve is not supplied and the actuator is in the rest position therefore the throttles are closed and the introduction to the engine is through long ducts in order to produce high engine torque at medium speeds;inlet with short ducts (below 2000 rpm and above 5400 rpm, at medium-high engine loads; throughout at low speeds): in this position the solenoid valve is supplied and places the actuator in contact with the vacuum reservoir causing the opening of the throttles therefore the engine intake is through short ducts to produce the maximum power.

Specifications
TypeIt is a two-way solenoid valve in the lower part of the intake manifold and is operated by the injection control unit.Its function is to allow the vacuum present in the vacuum tank (inside the intake chamber) to act on the pneumatic actuator controlling the swinging duct.1, Solenoid2, Actuator3, Vacuum intake pipe4, Atmospheric air intake
