Removing ( Refitting ) Place the car on a lift. - 4450B04  right front wheel r r .  - 1016A10  sound-proofing cover - r + r . Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

Remove the front plug (1a) and fit the camshaft timing tool (1b) in the camshaft housing.
Check that the tool is correctly inserted in the housing on the exhaust camshaft, rotating the crankshaft until the spring pin for the tool is heard engaging in the housing in the camshaft.

1. Undo the bolt for the crankcase front cover shown in the diagram. 2. Temporarily fit the tool (2a) and secure it using the calibrated screw (2b) and the nut (2c).

Remove the timing tools positioned previously.

1. Loosen the nut securing the timing belt mobile tensioner2. Prise off and remove the timing belt.
Refitting ( Removing ) 1. Loosen the exhaust side camshaft toothed drive pulley fixing bolt.
Fit the toothed timing belt on the drive gear checking that the belt teeth are correctly inserted in the gear grooves.Position the template for measuring TDC and secure it using the calibrated screw.

1. Fully fit the toothed timing drive belt.2. Use a screwdriver for leverage on the tensioner (2a) until the reference (2b) is in the maximum tension position, then lock the moving tensioner fixing nut (2c) in this position. Remove the timing tools.

3. Loosen the nut fixing the moving tensioner and position the moving reference (3a) in line with the opening (3b), i.e. in the nominal tension position, then tighten the nut (3c) fixing the belt tensioner to torque.

Rotate the crankshaft through two revolutions.Check once again that the timing is correct by refitting the timing tools.
Only fit the exhaust camshaft side template because the inlet side one is not accessible.
Check that the tensioning references on the timing belt tensioner are aligned.
