192004626 - E5061 CRUISE CONTROL - DESCRIPTION

Description

The Cruise Control function - constant speed governor - allows the driver to drive the car at a constant speed without pressing the accelerator pedal.This adapative Cruise Control also offers the possibility, thanks to "radar" located in the front bumper, of detecting the proximity of a vehicle and, of deciding to overtake it automatically.The function is managed by the engine control unit. This receives commands from a Cruise Control lever on the left of the steering wheel beneath the stalk switch unit.The function is engaged by turning the wheel (ON).When a speed is set ( SET + , SET - ), the setting is saved and may be called up at any time ( RCL ).The HV (headway) button switches the overtaking function on.

The function is automatically deactivated:

  • by pressing the brake pedal;
  • by pressing the clutch pedal;
  • by turning the wheel to OFF;
  • by switching off the engine;
In such cases, the last speed achieved is stored and can be recalled by pressing the RCL button.Unlike the conventional system, the adaptive system also intervenes and brakes the vehicle, sending signals to the ABS control unit    See E2021 BRAKE LIGHTS.With the system activated, the warning light in the instrument panel comes on, connected via the CAN to the engine management control unit.For more details Description and Operation 5580A CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM
