3360189 - C15 THE GEARS DO NOT ENGAGE IN "AUTO" OPERATION

The gearbox remains stuck in one gearWhilst stationary the vehicle changes down to first gear and then no other gear can be engaged

1CHECK FOR OIL LEAKSAll OKProblems metOperation
Check that there are no oil leaks See Test   2127C  CHECK FOR FLUID LEAKS Continue to Step 2Oil leaks detectedReplace/repair the relevant parts, top up the oilContinue to Step 1
2OIL PRESSURE CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Check the oil pressure See Test   2127D  OIL PRESSURE CHECK Continue to Step 4Pressure < 40 barContinue to Step 3
3CHECK PUMP OPERATIONAll OKProblems metOperation
Check that the pump is working properly See Test   2127E  ELECTRIC PUMP OPERATION CHECK Continue to Step 4Voltage below 11 VCheck the batteryContinue to Step 3
It is not possible to carry out gear changes from the leverActivate the 'clutch bleed' service from the Examiner Plus or Smart to activate the pumpContinue to Step 3
4CONTROL UNIT ERRORS CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation

Check that there are no control unit errors. In particular:

  • Brake switch error
  • Clutch sensor error
  • Control unit faulty error (microprocessor)
  • Even gear engagement error
  • Odd gear engagement error
  • Clutch solenoid valve current error
  • Electromagnetic brake error (Selection solenoid)
  • Control unit earth error
  • Load relay error
If there is a brake switch error, the recovery considers the brake to be constantly pressed with the engine running; this means that only changes to lower gears can take place in automatic mode
Continue to Step 7Presence of one or more of the errors included in the list Continue to Step 5
5CHECKS ON FAULTS DETECTEDAll OKProblems metOperation
Check the faults See Test   2127I  What to do depending on the error' present in the Selespeed control unit No accelerator pedal information. End of diagnosisFaulty connections (Clutch sensor, Odd or even gear engagement, Clutch solenoid current, Electromagnetic brake, Control unit earth error and/or Load relay error)Restore/replace the wiringContinue to Step 6
The change of state does not take place (brake switch)Check the brake pedal switch, its attachment and the state of the wiring connections. Restore correct operationContinue to Step 6
There are no faulty connections (Clutch sensor)Replace the clutch actuator (CSC) and check its operation by carrying out a gear change.Continue to Step 6
The test is not successful (Odd or even gear engagement)Replace the solenoid valve Op.   2127C52  Continue to Step 6
