Description

The car is fitted with numerous electronic control units that perform a self-diagnostic function.When a diagnostic tester (Examiner or other device) is connected to these control units, self-diagnosis data can be read (parameters, errors) or the available active diagnostic tests can be carried out.All the diagnostic lines flow into the EOBD connector (European On Board Diagnosis) which conforms with Directive 98/69/CE (EURO 3) - ISO standard J1962 in the Body Computer connector G.Nodes connected to the network are diagnosed via the B-CAN network, while the dynamic car control network is diagnosed by a specific K lines.

The following are checked via the B-CAN line:

  • junction unit under the dashboard
  • Instrument panel;
  • door control units;
  • boot comparment control unit;
  • Passive Entry control unit;
  • steering lock control unit;
  • radio controls on the steering wheel;
  • built-in radio-telephone-navigator unit;
  • parking sensor control unit;
  • climate control system control unit (and additional heater control unit, if fitted)
  • seat control unit.

The following are monitored via individual diagnostic K lines:

  • engine management control unit (and SELESPEED gearbox control unit, if present);
  • ABS control unit;
  • Air Bag control unit;
  • electric steering control unit;
  • tyre pressure control unit
  • adaptive Cruise Control and headlamp electronics control unit (and additional heater, if fitted);
