Remove the spark plugs.1. Fit tool (1a) with dial guage (1b) into the first cylinder spark plug socket.

Turn the crankshaft with small, even movements until the dial gauge shows the cylinder no. 1 piston is at TDC.
1. Fit the toothed timing belt following the order shown in the diagram:toothed drive pulley (1a)axiliary driveshaft pulley ( 1b)fixed tensioner (1c)intake side driven pulley (1d)exhaust side driven pulley (1e)moving tensioner (1f)
1. Unscrew bolt (1a) and fit tool (1b) for tensioning the toothed timing belt.

2. Use the tool to adjust the toothed timing belt until it is at a position of maximum tension, i.e. with the tensioner mobile pointer at the end of its travel.3. Tighten the nut for the moving tensioner to the recommended torque.

Rotate the crankshaft through two revolutions in its normal direction of rotation.1. Loosen the moving tensioner nut.2. Use tool (2a) to slacken toothed timing belt tension gradually until mobile reference (2b) is aligned with fixed reference (2c).

Remove the toothed timing belt tensioning tool and tighten the positioning bolt removed previously.
It is good practice to check timing again by refitting the tools to the camshafts and adjusting the engine until cylinder no. 1 is set to TDC, measured using the dial gauge and extension. If the engine timing is not correctly adjusted or the timing belt is found to be faulty, the procedure must be repeated.
Fit the spark plugs and tighten them to the recommended torque.
