Rotate the crankshaft with slight even movements until the piston for cylinder 1 is at TDC on the dial gauge.

1. Undo the bolt (1a) and fit the tool (1b) for tensioning the toothed timing drive belt.

2. Using the tool tension the toothed timing drive belt until it is in the maximum tension position, i.e. with the tensioner moving reference in the end of travel position.3. Tighten the nut fixing the moving timing tensioner to the recommended torque.

Rotate the crankshaft throught two revolutions in its normal direction of rotation.1. Loosen the nut retaining the timing belt moving tensioner.2. Using the tool (2a) slowly discharge the toothed timing belt tension until the moving reference (2b) is in line with the fixed reference (2c).

Remove the tool for tensioning the toothed timing drive belt and tighten the bolt removed for positioning.
It is advisable to recheck the timing by refitting the tools on the camshafts and checking that the first cylinder is at T.D.C. using the dial gauge and the extension. If the engine timing is not correct or there are problems with the timing belt, the procedure must be repeated.
Fit the spark plugs in their seats and tighten them to the recommended torque.
