ROOF PANEL/SIDE PANEL CONNECTION PROFILE-MOULDING- Check that the components connected are not distorted by checking the bodyshell alignment measurements using suitable equipment (gauges, templates or jigs).- Straighten the body as necessary.
- Working from inside the vehicle:1. Use a hack sawing machine following the cutting lines shown in the diagram.
- Working from outside the vehicle:1. Use a hack sawing machine following the cutting lines shown in the diagram.2. Remove the front pillar edges from the vehicle complete with the reinforcement.
- Use a rotary brush to remove the paint to gain access to the spot welds.1. Use the chamfering machine to remove the spot welds shown in the diagram.2. Use the drill and chamfer the spot welds not accessible to the chamfering machine.- Use the hammer and chisel and remove the spot welds chamfered previously.3. Remove the rear pillar offcut from the vehicle.
- Straighten the edges of the vehicle using a mallet and profiled block.- Remove the spot weld residues using a disc grinder.- Use a rotary brush to clean the areas treated previously.1. Apply electro-galvanizing paint.
1. Use a rotary brush to remove the rustproofing around the perimeter and at the point shown in the figure on the outside and inside of the replacement pillar.2. Make the holes shown using the drill.- Apply electro-weldable paint to the edges involved.
1. Use a rotary brush to remove rustproofing from the points shown in the figure on the inside and outside of the replacement wing reinforcement.- Apply electro-weldable paint to the prepared edges.
Refitting ( Removing ) - Position the rear pillar correctly on the vehicle and secure it using self-locking clamps.1. Fit the upper channel reinforcement, the rear tail-light seat, the wing, the rear wing lower reinforcement, the roof seam profile, the seal and the tail-gate.- Check the alignment and the surrounding gaps.- Remove the components used for adjustment.
1. Use a spot welder and carry out the welding in the areas shown in the diagram.2. Use a MIG welder and weld the openings made previously in the replacement part.
- Correct any distortions to the panel using a profiled block and mallet.1. Use a disc grinder to level the welds.- Use a rotary brush to clean the areas welded previously.
1. Apply anti-oxidant protection to the areas involved in the welding.- Seal the join lines between the replacement part and the vehicle.
1. Apply the wing internal reinforcement and secure with a few weld spots.
- Correct any distortions to the panel using a profiled block and mallet.1. Use a disc grinder to level the welds.- Use a rotary brush to clean the areas welded previously.- Apply rustproofing to the areas involved in the welding.- Re-apply sealant to all the joints.- Proceed with the painting stage.
