194002307 - 0010T20 ENGINE COOLANT - CHANGE

Only use the recommended coolant checking that the concentration is 50% water and 50% anti-freeze. The anti-freeze not only has the function of protecting the entire cooling system from freezing but it also protects the parts that are in contact with the coolant from corrosion and limescale. Therefore the benefits of anti-freeze should not be underestimated even in tropical climates.
In addition to the mixture ratio, the quality of the water also plays an important role. Drinking water normally satisifes these requirements; the quality of regenerated sea water is not good enough.
Anti-freeze that is not approved can cause damage to the engine.
If the radiator, the cylinder head or the cylinder head gasket is replaced, do not reuse the used coolant.
- Position the vehicle on a lift.
Switch off the climate control system.
- With the engine cold, undo the engine coolant reservoir cap.
Do not remove the tank cap when the engine is hot as there is a risk of scalding.
Op. 7055B54 UNDER ENGINE PROTECTION/GUARD - R.R.- Undo the radiator coolant drain plug.
Collect the coolant in a suitable container.
- Tighten the coolant drain plug to the radiator.- Loosen the bleed on the climate control system heater coolant supply pipe.- Slowly introduce the recommended fluid into the circuit via the filler on the engine coolant supply reservoir.

- Close the bleed screw on the coolant supply pipe to the climate control system heater as soon as the fluid comes out.- Complete refilling with the recommended fluid until the "KALT COLD" reference is reached on the tank.- Tighten the reservoir cap.- Start up the engine and let it run.
Let the engine run with the following cycle: 30 seconds from 2000 rpm up to 2500 rpm, 5 seconds in neutral, 30 seconds from 2000 rpm to 2500 rpm. Let the engine idle until the radiator fan comes on. Repeat the procedure one more time following the same cycle. The cooling system bleeds itself whilst the engine is warming up.
- Stop the engine and let it cool down.- If necessary, top up with the recommended fluid until the "KALT COLD" reference is reached.- At the end of the above operations, make sure that the amount of fluid introduced into the system is at least equal to the amount collected during the draining stage.    Op. 7055B54 UNDER ENGINE PROTECTION/GUARD - R.R.- Remove the vehicle from the lift.
