194001576 - E5010 STARTING AND RECHARGING - FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

The ignition device H003 receives a supply from the direct battery line protected by fuse F32 of the junction unit under the dashboard B002.The steering lock control unit M089 provides a power supply from the direct battery line protected by fuse F3 of the engine compartment junction unit B001 - pin C1 and, depending on the rotation of the key in the ignition device H003, receives the following signals:- at pin A6, the key inserted signal (TEG_IN);- at pin B5, the key turned to ON signal (TEG_MAR);- at pin C5, the first starting signal with the key turned to START (TEG_Crank1);- at pin C6, the second starting signal with the key turned to START (TEG_Crank2);The ignition device H003 - pins 1 and 2 - communicates, via the CAN, with the Body Computer M001 - pins 24 and 25 of connector H - whether or not the TEG inserted in the reader is recognized. In the same way, control unit M089 - pins A2 and A3 of M089, with the ignition ON, notify the Body Computer of the request to send the system the +15. Once the TEG is recognized (immobilizer function) and allows the distribution of the power lines (INT, INT/A, 15/54) the steering lock control unit M089 is enabled for the starting stage. At pin A5 the steering lock control unit M089 receives the earth signal for the clutch pedal I031 pressure. Turning the key at the same time to START, from pin B8, the steering lock control unit M089 sends the +50 signal to the starter motor A020 solenoid winding (pin 50, connector C).Pin 30 (connector A) of A020, the actual motor, receives a power supply with the voltage coming from the battery A001.On this engine type there is an automatic battery disconnection relay in series to the postive battery terminal located in the maxifuse box on the battery. This relay allows the supply for the starter motor to be interrupted (together with the starting/recharging system) when the inertia switch I050 is activated (pin 2, NA contact) with the earth signal. The continuous current produced by the alternator A010 (pin B+, connector B) is sent to the battery A001, passing through the starter motor A020 (pin 30, connector B).When the alternator A010 is not turning and therefore not recharging the battery, an earth signal is sent from pin D+ (connector A) to the Body Computer M001 - pin 19 of connector A: the latter, connected via the CAN to the instrument panel E050, determines the switching on of the alternator recharging warning light in the panel.
