194001655 - E5060 CRUISE CONTROL - DESCRIPTION

The Cruise Control function - constant speed governor - allows the driver to drive the car at a constant speed without pressing the accelerator pedal. The function is managed by the engine control unit. This receives commands from a Cruise Control lever on the left of the steering wheel. The vehicle cruise control function is managed by the "RES" (Resume) button and the two "+ / -" (SET + , SET -) and “ON / OFF” wheels. The function is engaged by turning the ON/OFF wheel to ON.When a speed is set by means of the “SET + / SET -” wheel, this is stored and may be reset at any time by pressing the RES (Resume) key.The driver may turn the function off:- by turning the wheel to OFF;- by pressing the brake pedal;- by pressing the clutch pedal;- by settiing the automatic transmission lever to N, P or R;- by travelling at vehicle speed lower than the minimum permitted speed;- by pressing the accelerator pedal: in this case, the system is not actually turned off, but the acceleration request takes precedence so that the manoeuvre requested by the driver can be carried out.The Cruise Control is deactivated automatically in the event of accidental or incorrect operation of the keys on the lever, acceleration higher than a preset limit, in the event of a system fault and if the ABS or ESP system operates. With the system activated, the warning light in the instrument panel comes on, connected via the CAN to the engine management control unit. For more details,    See descriptions 5580A CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM
