System activation

The CONNECT system may be activated in two different modes:- Automatic activation with the key inserted and turned to the ON position- Manual activation by means of ON button-- Emergency manual activation by means of SOS buttonAutomatic activationWhen the ignition key is turned to ON position, the CONNECT system turns on automatically to make all the functions described in this chapter active or enabled.Manual activationWith the ignition key in OFF position, the CONNECT system comes on when the ON button is pressed to make the following modes available:- MAIN- AUDIO- NAV- TEL- SOS and SERVICE (Targasys)In this mode, the SETUP and TRIP modules can be activated but it is not possible to validate any parameter change, language change or measurement unit change or any other type of adjustment envisaged by the CONNECT system. These limitations are normal when the system is activated by means of the ON button. When the vehicle is not running (key extracted or OFF position), the data transmission devices inside the vehicle are not operational. When ignition key is turned ON, the system begins to work.

System deactivation

The CONNECT system may be activated in two different modes:- deactivation independent of the ignition key;- deactivation dependent on the ignition key.To choose the deactivation mode, see the Power OFF submenu in the SEPUP menu.Deactivation independent of the ignition keyWhen this mode is active, the CONNECT system may be turned off by pressing the ON button. The display shows the message DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE IN PROGRESS, WAIT A FEW MOMENTS.With the ignition key extracted or in the OFF position, the system deactivates with a delay of 20 minutes if a system destination has been set or if a phone conversation is in progress.Deactivation dependent on the ignition keyWhen this mode is active, the CONNECT system may be turned off by turning the ignition key to the OFF position.

Functional description

Power supply managementEvents that interact with the power supply managementThe events that directly or indirectly allow the user to interact with the general system operating state are:- + key: physical signal linked to the key status (panel/engine on).- on/off button: present on the Connect front panel.- SOS button: present on the Connect front panel.Possible system statesPossible Connect statuses from the viewpoint of power supply and operation in general are as follows: off state, normal state, stand-by state.Operation still depends on the "system configuration". The configuration of the system memorizes which functions the user has selected as active. The functions are: tuner, CD, CD Changer, telephone, service call and video (dark on/off).- off state: all Connect functions are disabled and the various hardware modules are not supplied with power.- normal state: in the normal state, the Connect system is fully active and all system functions are managed in accordance with the system configuration. Internal modules are operational, as are the internal communication lines.- stand-by state: in this status, the Connect system is active but looks exactly as though it were OFF to the user. In any case the only internal module that is fully operational is the network communcation.PLANNED ACTIONSSwitching on
