194000539 - 4410A12 FRONT SUSPENSION DAMPER (ONE), LH OR RH - FOR MCPHERSON STRUT SYSTEM - INCLUDES DISMANTLING/REASSEMBLY OF ASSEMBLY AT BENCH - R.R

Removing ( Refitting )
The following procedure describes the removing-refitting of the left front shock absorber, carry out the same operations for the right front shock absorber.
- Position the vehicle on a lift.    Op. 4450B02 LEFT FRONT WHEEL - R.R    Op. 7055B90 LEFT FRONT WHEEL ARCH LINER - R.R.1. Release the front brake flexible pipe (1a), the front brake pad wear sensor electrical wiring (1b) and the wheel rpm sensor electrical wiring (1c) from the bracket on the shock absorber.2. Undo the bolts fixing the front suspension shock absorber to the steering knuckle.
1. Undo the nut (1a) and disconnect the front suspension anti-roll bar joint (1b), shock absorber side.
1. Undo the bolts fixing the front suspension shock absorber to the bodyshell.
1. Remove the shock absorber assembly.
1. At the bench, position the shock absorber assembly (1a) on the tool (1b) for dismantling.

- Compress the shock absorber and the spring using the tool.2. Release the protective cover.3. Undo the nut.- Release the shock absorber and spring compression using the tool.4. Dismantle the various components from the shock absorber stem.
Refitting ( Removing ) 1. Assemble the spring and the shock absorber making sure that the spring is correctly positioned in relation to the reference on the lower spring plate as illustrated in the diagram.
The springs are selected with special codes on the plates that identify the various engine types on which they are fitted (see TECHNICAL DATA).Make sure that both the front suspension springs have the correct identification code.Take great care to ensure that the white paint mark on each spring is pointing towards the upper mounting.
1. Assemble the various components on the shock absorber stem.2. Compress the shock absorber and the spring using the tool.
