CHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1Turn the ignition key OFF.Turn off all the electrical users.Fit a new fuse F16 in the engine compartment junction unit.    See B001 ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUNCTION UNITTurn the ignition key ON.Check that new fuse does not cut in.Move on to Step 3Replace relay T9 (it is the one in the middle in the bottom row)Op. 1060G88 DIESEL INJECTION SYSTEM RELAYS - R RMove on to Step 2
2Check the fault disappears.The test can be considered overRestore the original relay and replace the junction unit in the engine compartment    Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R.
3Start the engine and check that fuse F16 cuts inA temporary current overload has occurred in the system behind fuse F16.
4Turn the ignition key OFF.In the junction unit, remove relay T9 from the base unit (in the middle of the lower row)    See B001 ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUNCTION UNITTurn the ignition key ON.Connect a shunt cable with a fuse between pin 87 of the base unit for relay T9 and the battery positive, checking that it has not blown.Replace relay T9Op. 1060G88 DIESEL INJECTION SYSTEM RELAYS - R R
5Disconnect the shunt connection.Disconnect the cable loom connector from control unit connector X    See B001 ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUNCTION UNITConnect a shunt cable with a fuse between pin 1 of the connector X and the battery positive, checking that the fuse for the connecting cable it has not blown.Replace the engine compartment junction unit    Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R.
6If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine compartment junction unit and the starter motor    See E5010 STARTING AND RECHARINGReplace the starter motor    Op. 5520B10 STARTER MOTOR - R+R
