CHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1Turn the ignition key ON.With the engine switched off and all the consumers switched off, the battery voltage should be between 11 and 13.5 V.Move on to Step 4
2Turn the ignition key to the STARTING position and check that the battery voltage is more than 8 VMove on to Step 4
3With the engine idling and warmed up, with all the consumers switched off, the battery voltage should be between 12 and 15 V. The test is considered overMove on to Step 4
4Start the engine and let it reach a speed of 3000 rpm. Measure the voltage between the positive battery pole and the earth, checking that it is between 13 and 14.8 V    See A001 BATTERYReplace the alternator    Op. 5530A10 ALTERNATOR - R+R
5Position the ignition key on STOP. Measure the voltage between the battery positive terminal and Earth, checking it is greater than 11 V.    See A001 BATTERYCarry out    See Test 5530BC BATTERY CHARGE CHECK
6Turn the ignition ON and switch off all the consumers.Turn the ignition key OFF.Disconnect cable loom connector A from the engine management control unit    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT CONTROL UNITTurn the ignition key ON and earth Pin 72 of control unit wiring connector A several times.    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT CONTROL UNITConnect a (21 W) test lamp and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between pins 1 and 5 of the control unit connector A and earth, checking that it is greater than 11 V.    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT CONTROL UNITMove on to Step 12Move on to Step 7
7Turn the ignition key OFF.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove relay T9 from the base unit (it is the one in the middle of the bottom row)    See B001 ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUNCTION UNITConnect a shunt cable with a fuse to Pins 30 and 87 of the base unit.Connect a (21 W) test lamp and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between pins 1 and 5 of the control unit connector A and earth, checking that it is greater than 11 V.    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT CONTROL UNITMove on to Step 18Move on to Step 8
8Connect a (21 W) test lamp and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between pins 30 and 86 of the base unit and earth, checking that it is greater than 11 V.Move on to Step 18Move on to Step 9
9In the engine compartment junction unit, remove fuse F17 from the base unit (it is the fourth from the right in the bottom row)    See B001 ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUNCTION UNITConnect a (21 W) test lamp and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between the fuse input contact and earth, checking that it is greater than 11 V.Move on to Step 11Move on to Step 10

13Turn the ignition key OFF.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove fuse F16 from the base unit (it is the third from the right in the top row).    See B001 ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUNCTION UNITTurn the ignition key ON.Connect a (21 W) test bulb and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between the fuse input contact and earth, checking that it is less than 11 V.Move on to Step 15Move on to Step 14

15Turn the ignition key OFF.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove relay T10 from the base unit (it is the second from left in the bottom row).    See B001 ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUNCTION UNITConnect a (21 W) test lamp and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between pins 30 of the base unit and earth, checking that it is greater than 11 V.Move on to Step 10
16Reinsert fuse F16 in the engine compartment junction unit base    See B001 ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUNCTION UNITConnect a bridge with a fuse to Pins 30 and 87 of the base unit of relay T10.Connect a (21 W) test lamp and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between pins 11 of the junction unit and earth, checking that it is greater than 11 V.    See B001 ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUNCTION UNITReplace the engine compartment junction unit    Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R.

18Measure the resistance between Pin 85 of the base unit and Earth, ensuring it is greater than 500 kOhmMove on to Step 10
