194001767 - E7056 ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK - DESCRIPTION

The steering lock allows a particular management of the vehicle protection system and engine starting. The system is managed by the steering lock control unit which controls and regulates the entire steering column locking/unlocking system electrically controlled by means of special actuators. The steering lock control unit, an integral node of the CAN, is the power distributor for the vehicle providing the ignition-controlled power supplies INT, INT/A, 15/54 and 50.    See E1010 POWER SUPPLYDepending on the position of the key (TEG) inside the starting device, the steering lock control unit determines:f the enablement request for the +15 supply to the Body Computer (ON position), the +50 starting for vehicle (START position) and, if the result is positive, the power distribution to the vehicle and to the various load (INT, INT/A,15/54).The starting system involves that together with the rotation of the key to the START position the clutch pedal (or in recovery conditions, the brake pedal) for versions with a manual gearbox or the brake pedal for versions with automatic transmission, is pressed. On versions with automatic transmission the additional condition of the gear lever in P (PARK) must be observed. For further details,    See E5010 STARTING AND RECHARINGThe release of the steering is activated when the TEG is inserted in the ignition device and is recognized. The locking of the steering takes place with the TEG in the OFF position as long as the safety condition that involves the continuity of the steering release when the vehicle speed is above 4 km/h is respected. In this case the user is advised by means of a signal in the NQS: "The steering will not be locked".
