Removing ( Refitting )     Op. 5580C18 AIR BAG MODULE - R+R

Follow all the recommended safety instructions.

- Position the front wheels so that they are perfectly straight and mark the position of the steering wheel in relation to the upper half casing.1. Disconnect the electrical connection.

2. Remove the protective cap.3. Undo the nut (3a) and remove the steering wheel (3b).

The nut securing the steering wheel must be replaced each time it is refitted.

Refitting ( Removing ) - Place the steering wheel in position checking that the marks made previously on the steering wheel and the upper half casing are aligned.

Whilst the steering wheel is being fitted the steering column switch unit cables must be fully extracted from the hub on the steering wheel.

- Tighten a new steering wheel securing nut to the recommended torque.

- Place the protective cap in position.- Connect the electrical connection.

Check that the electrical cables are correctly positioned in the special ducts in the steering wheel; this operation is vital or else the positioning of the Air Bag module and the operation of the horn will be adversely affected.
