Removing ( Refitting )

Whenever repairs are carried out on the rear suspension that require the front or rear wishbone geometry (toe in and camber) adjustment bolts to be loosened, it is absolutely necessary to check the rear suspension angles

    Op. 4450A40 REAR WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDES ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARY

The following procedure describes the removing-refitting of the left rear wheel stub axle, carry out the same operations for the right rear wheel stub axle.

- Position the vehicle on a lift.    Op. 4450B02 LEFT FRONT WHEEL - R.R    Op. 7055B44 LEFT REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER - R.R    Op. 3310B57 REAR BRAKE CALIPER BRACKET (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R.    Op. 3310B48 REAR BRAKE DISC (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R.    Op. 4450D10 HUB FOR ONE REAR WHEEL, L/H OR R/H - R+R WITH WHEEL REMOVED - CHECK WHEEL GEOMETRY SEPARATELY    Op. 4420A40 L/H OR R/H REAR SUSPENSION COIL SPRING (ONE) - R+R1. Undo the bolt fixing the rear suspension anti-roll bar joint to the rear wheel hub stub axle.2. Undo the bolt fixing the rear suspension rear track control arm to the rear wheel hub stub axle.3. Undo the bolt fixing the rear suspension upper track control arm to the rear wheel hub stub axle. 1. Undo the bolt fixing the shock absorber to the rear wheel stub axle.2. Undo the bolt fixing the rear suspension front track control arm to the rear wheel hub stub axle.3. Undo the bolts fixing the rear suspension anchorage strut to the rear wheel hub stub axle.4. Remove the rear wheel hub stub axle. Refitting ( Removing ) 1. Place the rear wheel hub stub axle back in its housing.2. Screw in the bolts fixing the rear suspension anchorage strut to the rear wheel hub stub axle without tightening them.3. Screw in the bolt fixing the rear suspension front track control arm to the rear wheel hub stub axle without tightening it.4. Screw in the bolt fixing the shock absorber to the rear wheel stub axle without tightening it. 1. Screw in the bolt fixing the rear suspension upper track control arm to the rear wheel hub stub axle without tightening it.2. Screw in the bolt fixing the rear suspension rear track control arm to the rear wheel hub stub axle without tightening it.3. Tighten the new bolt fixing the rear suspension anti-roll bar joint to the rear wheel hub stub axle to the recommended torque.

    Op. 4420A40 L/H OR R/H REAR SUSPENSION COIL SPRING (ONE) - R+R    Op. 4450D10 HUB FOR ONE REAR WHEEL, L/H OR R/H - R+R WITH WHEEL REMOVED - CHECK WHEEL GEOMETRY SEPARATELY    Op. 3310B48 REAR BRAKE DISC (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R.    Op. 3310B57 REAR BRAKE CALIPER BRACKET (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R.    Op. 7055B44 LEFT REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER - R.R    Op. 4450B02 LEFT FRONT WHEEL - R.R- Place the vehicle in design ride condition    Op. 4450A40 REAR WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDES ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARYto tighten the bolts fixing the rear suspension front track control arm.

This operation is used to avoid torsional preloading of the flexible bushes.

- Tighten the bolts fixing the rear suspension anchorage strut to the rear wheel hub stub axle to the recommended torque.

- Tighten the new bolt fixing the rear suspension front track control arm to the rear wheel hub stub axle to the recommended torque.

- Tighten the bolt fixing the shock absorber to the rear wheel stub axle to the recommended torque.

- Tighten the new bolt fixing the rear suspension upper track control arm to the rear wheel hub stub axle to the recommended torque.

- Tighten the new bolt fixing the rear suspension rear track control arm to the rear wheel hub stub axle to the recommended torque.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.
