194001806 - ADDITIONAL INTERVENTIONS

For versions produced up to 12/2005Notify the customer that for the smooth running of the vehicle, in addition to sticking to the intervals recommended in the Planned Maintenance Programme and the Annual Inspection Plan it is also necessary to follow the recommendations in the Owner''s Handbook.Every 1000 Km or before long journies, check and, if necessary, top up:- engine coolant level- brake fluid level- windscreen washer fluid level- tyre inflation pressure and condition.Every 3000 Km check and, if necessary, top up:- engine oil level
For petrol versions and Multijet versions without DPF, change the engine oil more often than indicated in the Planned Maintenance programme if the vehicle is mainly used in one of the following particularly harsh conditions:- towing a trailer or caravan- dusty roads- short, repeated journies (less than 7-8 Km) at sub-zero temperatures- engine often idling or driving long distances at low speed (e.g. taxi or door to door deliveries) or long period of idleness.
For Multjet versions with DPF, the engine oil and oil filter should be replaced when the warning light and message appear on the control panel display or at least every 2 years. If the vehicle is used mainly around town, the oil deteriorates faster than over other types of route.
If the vehicle is used on dusty roads then the air filter should be replaced more often than indicated in the Planned Maintenance Programme.
If the vehicle is used frequently in dusty areas or where there is strong pollution, it is advisable to replace the filter element more often; in particular, it should be replaced if a decrease in the efficiency of the climate control system is noticed.
The possibility of filling up with diesel fuel that does not conform to the standard of purity laid down in European Standard EN590 means that the diesel filter may have to be replaced more frequently than indicated in the Planned Maintenance Programme.
It is advisable to check the battery charge, preferably at the beginning of the winter, to avoid the possibility of the electrolyte freezing. This check should be carried out more often if the vehicle is mainly used for short journies or if it is equipped with consumers that permanently absorb energy with the ignition off, especially if they have been fitted in the after market. If the vehicle is used in cold climates or particularly harsh conditions, it is advisable to check the battery fluid (electrolyte) level more often than recommended in the Planned Maintenance Programme.
