194001315 - E2020 DIRECTION INDICATORS/HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS - DESCRIPTION

The left and right direction indicators are switched on by raising or lowering the special lever on the left of the steering column switch unit; the function is activated with the ignition key in the ON position. The hazard lights (right and left indicators operated simultaneously) are activated by a button on the gear lever panel. The switching on of the turn signals/hazard lights is managed by the Body Computer.Under normal operating conditions (no faults), the led on the gear lever panel button, the acoustic signal and the instrument panel readings operate intermittently and in synchrony with the turn signal bulbs. The Body Computer manages the flashing rate: directly for the led and acoustic signal, via signals on the CAN network for instrument panel readings. The correct operation of the lights is controlled by the direction indicators check function and the following is controlled for each of the two circuits (right and left branches of the vehicle):- open circuit or bulb missing for charges of 21 W (right front, right rear, left front, left rear)- short-circuit to earth (bulb s.c. or wiring s.c. to earth)- short circuit to battery voltage (wiring short circuited to Vbatt)At the same time as the light failure warning is turned on, the flashing rate of the warning light on the panel (or both in the case of the hazard lights) and the acoustic signal is increased. The flashing rate of the exterior lights and the led on the emergency key remains unaltered.
the direction indicators are also used to signal that the commands sent by the remote control (in the electronic key) have been received and/or to signal a manoeuvre not carried out by the "passenger compartment access" control system.

the blinker function with alarm manages turn signal flashing to indicate a theft attempt.
