The flywheel lock must be removed for the following operating stages relating to the fitting of the "timing templates".

1. Fit the tool (1a) in the special splining for the camshafts (1b).

1. Fit the tool (1a) on the toothed driven pullies (1b).

Firstly fit the inlet side template and then the exhaust side one.

When the fitting of the templates is complete, check that:- the recess (a) on the exhaust side pulley coincides with the reference (b) on the corresponding timing template;- the pin (c) on the inlet side pulley is in the position shown in the diagram in relation to the reference (d) on the corresponding timing template.

1. Undo the bolt (1a) fixing the fixed timing belt tensioner (1b).2. Adjust the moving tensioner in a clockwise direction to slacken the timing belt tension and lock it using a suitable pin.- Remove the timing belt fixed tensioner (1b).3. Remove the timing belt.

Refitting ( Removing

) 1. Fit a new timing belt (1a) using the special guide (1b) supplied by the Parts Dept. together with the belt.

- Remove the guide used to fit the new timing belt.- Fit the fixed tensioner and tighten the bolt to the recommended torque.

1. Check the timing of the crankshaft checking that the references shown in the diagram coincide.

- Fit the timing belt definitively adjusting the moving tensioner to remove the locking pin.- Remove the templates used for timing the camshafts. Op. 1048A10 AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY - R.R.
