Removing ( Refitting ) - Position the vehicle on a lift.1. Undo the nuts fixing the front exhaust silencer to the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter.2. Undo the bolts fixing the front exhaust silencer flexible mounting to the bodyshell.3. Disconnect the rear flexible mounting for the front exhaust silencer.- Move the front exhaust silencer to one side and secure it appropriately. 1. Remove the rivets fixing the heat shield using a drill.2. Undo the fastenings and remove the heat shield.

Lower the heat shield carefully as the four centre bolts also secure the gear lever mounting.

Refitting ( Removing ) - Place the heat shield back in its housing, tighten the fastenings and fit new rivets.- Place the front exhaust silencer in its housing and connect the rear flexible mounting.- Tighten the bolts fixing the front exhaust silencer flexible mounting to the bodyshell to the recommended torque.

- Fit a new gasket and tighten the nuts fixing the front exhaust silencer to the exhaust silencer and catalytic converter to the recommended torque.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.
