198002886 - 5040BA CHECK ON OPERATION OF MULTI-STAGE PRESSURE SWITCH/LINEAR SENSOR (Automatic air conditioning)

STEP	CHECK TO BE PERFORMED	REMEDIAL ACTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1	Disconnect the cable loom connector from the linear sensor (for the climate control system) see    See K120 LINEAR SENSOR FOR FANS Measure the voltage between Pin 2 of the wiring side connector and Earth, checking it is within the range between 4.8 and 5.2 V.	Move on to Step 2
2	Turn the ignition key OFF.Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the accelerator pedal potentiometer see    See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER Turn the ignition key ON.Measure the voltage between Pin 2 of the sensor and Earth, checking it is within the range between 4.8 and 5.2 V.    See K120 LINEAR SENSOR FOR FANS Move on to Step 5	Move on to Step 6
3	Disconnect the cable loom connector from the air flow meter and repeat the measurement, checking the voltage is in the range between 4.8 and 5.2 V.    See K041 AIR FLOW METER	Move on to Step 6
4	If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the debimeter and the engine control unit.    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT The test can be considered finished.	Replace the flow meter    Op. 1060G10 AIR FLOW METER - R.R.
5	If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the accelerator pedal potentiometer and the engine management control unit.    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT The test can be considered finished.	Replace the accelerator pedal    Op. 1068A20 ACCELERATOR PEDAL WITH BUILT-IN POTENTIOMETER - R.R
6	If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the linear sensor and the engine control unit.    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT The test can be considered finished.	Replace the engine management control unit    Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - R.R
7	Measure the voltage between Pins 1 and 2 of the sensor, checking it is within the range between 4.8 and 5.2 V.    See K120 LINEAR SENSOR FOR FANS	Move on to Step 8
8	Disconnect the air flow meter    See K041 AIR FLOW METER Measure the voltage between Pins 1 and 2 of the sensor, checking it is within the range between 4.8 and 5.2 V.    See K120 LINEAR SENSOR FOR FANS	Move on to Step 6
9	If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the linear sensor and the engine control unit.    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT The test can be considered finished.	Replace the pressure transducer    Op. 5040B20 AIR CONDITIONING LINEAR PRESSURE TRANSDUCER - R.R.
10	Display the A/C Pressure parameter (conditioned air) and check it is less than 0.3 Volt	Move on to Step 6.
11	Connect a shunt connection cable with a fuse between Pins 2 and 3 of the sensor    See K120 LINEAR SENSOR FOR FANS Display the A/C Pressure parameter (conditioned air) and check it is less than 4.8 V.
