The CONNECT Nav+ controls and provides information for the following systems and functions:- Navigation based on GPS (Global Positioning System);- Audio with RDS (Radio Data System) radio, MP3, CD and CD Changer;- GSM telephone (Global System for Mobile Communication) with WAP capacity and SOS-call;- Voice recognition (VR module) with voice synthesis and memorization.The interface is the multifunction information display for all integrated components.The colour display has a 256 TFT colour 6.5" 16/9 LCD with a resolution of 400 x 240 pixels.Dimensions: 2DIN box with front panel

Internal modules

The system modules or the modules to which the system can be connected for obtaining information or requesting services are different.Cd rom playerCONNECT is equipped with a CD ROM player that is able to read and manage CD ROMs and audio CDs. The Audio media may be normal commercial audio CDs or CD ROMs containing files in MP3 format (all levels). Other acceptable ROM media include official Marelli media that contain an updated copy of the CONNECT management software and also the map database required for navigation.Cd changerCONNECT is also designed to be connected to an external CD Changer and to accept analogue audio output.Gsm moduleThe CONNECT system is equipped with a GSM Dual Band module and micro format SIM Card reader (that allows the user the insert a SIM Card). System activation

The CONNECT system may be activated in two different modes:

  • Automatic activation with key inserted
  • Manual activation by means of ON button
  • Emergency manual activation by means of SOS button
Automatic activationWith the key inserted, the CONNECT system comes on automatically ensuring that all the functions described in this chapter either are or can be activated.Manual activation

Even if the key is not inserted, the CONNECT system comes on when the ON button is pressed to make the following modes available:

  • MAIN
  • AUDIO
  • NAVIGATION
  • TELEPHONEMAPTRIPMYCAR (setup)
  • SOS and SERVICE (bCONNECT)
In this mode, the SETUP and TRIP modules can be activated but it is not possible to validate any parameter change, language change or measurement unit change or any other type of adjustment envisaged by the CONNECT system. These limitations are normal when the system is activated by means of the ON button. When the vehicle is not running, the data transmission devices inside the vehicle are not operational. The system starts to work when the key is inserted.

System deactivation

The CONNECT system may be activated in two different modes:

  • switching off independent of the key
  • switching off dependent on the key
To choose the deactivation mode, see the Power OFF submenu in the SETUP menu.Switching off independent of the keyWhen this mode is active, the CONNECT system may be turned off by pressing the ON button.The display shows the message DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE IN PROGRESS, WAIT A FEW MOMENTS.
With the key extracted, the system deactivates with a delay of 20 minutes if a system destination has been set or if a phone conversation is in progress.
Switching off dependent on the key:When this mode is active, the CONNECT system may be turned off by extracting the key.

Languages available

The following languages are available for both strings of displayed text (menus) and navigation voice messages: Italian, English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese.The voice recognition unit language may be set independently of the menu and navigation message language. The same languages are available.

FRONT OF THE CONNECT NAV+

The aesthetic trim and the function buttons are painted with a shiny Black Metal effect, whilst the telephone keys and the CD buttons are painted in Grand Prix Grey.The knobs are in soft touch black and embellished with a chrome ring at the front.

There are numerous buttons and two rotary selectors (a wheel and a pushbutton) on the front panel of the CONNECT.There are also three buttons on the centre courtesy light.Some keys perform multiple functions, according to the system operating conditions active at that time.Activation of the selected function is controlled, in some cases, by the length of time for which the button is pressed (short or long push) as described in the following table.
