198002186 - 5040A20 AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR - R+R - INCLUDES FLUID LEVEL CHECK AND TOP UP IF NECESSARY

Removing ( Refitting ) Follow the recommended safety instructions (see 5040 - Introduction).- Position the vehicle on a lift.- Drain the coolant.    Op. 0010T84 COOLANT FOR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM - DEHYDRATE AND REPRESSURIZE 1. Undo bolts (1a) and disconnect pipe connectors (1b) from compressor (1c).
Seal the connectors which have been disconnected, using suitable plugs to prevent dampness and impurities from entering the system.
2. Unscrew the nuts.3. Disconnect the earth terminal from the compressor.

4. Unscrew the compressor lower retaining bolts.5. Recover the compressor.
- If the compressor is being replaced, proceed as follows.1. Drain the fluid from the compressor via the pipe connection openings. If necessary, rotate the compressor manually several times, using the pulley to ensure that all of the fluid comes out.
The fluid is extremely hygroscopic: avoid leaving the containers open. Avoid leaving the compressor or any of the components disconnected from the system for any longer than is strictly necessary.
1. Collect the fluid drained from the compressor in a suitable transparent container (quantity A).2. Drain the fluid from the new compressor (quantity B) and collect it following the instructions given previously.3. Reintroduce a quantity of oil into the new compressor that corresponds to what was removed from the compressor being replaced (C=B-A).
Refitting ( Removing ) - Check that the compressor is not damaged.1. Reposition the compressor.2. Attach the compressor lower retaining bolts and tighten them to the specified torque.
