Undo the bolts (1a) and disconnect the air conditioning system pipe connectors (1b) from the expansion valve.

Seal the connectors that have been disconnected using suitable plugs to prevent dampness and impurities from entering the system.

2. Disconnect the air conditioner casing heater supply and return pipe quick connectors.

1. Disconnect the electrical connections (1a, 1b) from the junction unit in the dashboard.

1. Working on the tunnel, disconnect the electrical connections (1a, 1b, 1c).

2. Disconnect the earth lead.

3. Release the air duct couplings and remove them.

1. Working on the left side of the tunnel, disconnect the electrical connection (1a) for the Air Bag control unit.

2. Disconnect the earth leads (2a) and (2b).

3. Disconnect the condensation drain pipe (3a) from the air conditioning casing (3b).

1. Disconnect the connection for the radio aerial lead.2. Undo the front bolts fixing the crossmember.3. Undo the side bolts fixing the crossmember.4. Remove the dashboard supporting crossmember, complete with air conditioning casing and dashboard wiring.

Refitting ( Removing

) - Check that the dashboard supporting crossmember is not damaged.1. Working on both sides of the crossmember, fully tighten the crossmember centering bushes (1a) until the element fits into the seat (1b).

NOTE: The operation described allows the bushes to be zeroed in order to permit the clearance recovery function whilst fastening the crossmember to the bodyshell using the side bolts (3).

- Replace the bushes, if necessary.2. Place the dashboard supporting crossmember complete with air conditioning casing and dashboard wiring in position.3. Tighten the side bolts fixing the crossmember; tighten them gradually and alternately (lower right and upper left and viceversa) to allow the side bushes (1a) to recover the clearances between the crossmember and bodyshell correctly.

4. Tighten the front bolts fixing the crossmember.

- Connect the connection for the radio aerial lead.- Connect the condensation drainage pipe to the air conditioning casing.- Connect the earth leads.- Connect the connection for the Air Bag control unit.- Attach the air duct couplings.- Connect the earth lead.- Connect the electrical connections.- Connect the electrical connections to the junction unit in the dashboard.- Connect the air conditioner casing heater supply and return pipe quick connectors.

Replace the O rings for the connectors. Only use green coloured seals that are resistant to R134a coolant.Lubricate the connector threads using anti-freeze.

- Connect the air conditioning system pipe connectors to the expansion valve and tighten the bolts.- Refit any parts removed to gain access to the following pipes.- Air conditioning system pipe connectors on expansion valve.- Fluid delivery and return pipes to the air conditioning casing heater.
