198003090 - 5040B30 EXPANSION VALVE (ORIFICE TUBE) - R+R

Removing ( Refitting )
Follow the recommended safety instructions (see 5040 - Introduction).
- Drain the coolant.    Op. 0010T84 COOLANT FOR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM - DEHYDRATE AND REPRESSURIZE - According to the vehicle engine type, remove any parts that prevent disconnection of the following pipes:- air conditioning system pipe connectors on expansion valve.- fluid delivery and return pipes to the air conditioning casing heater.1. Undo the nuts (1a) and disconnect the air conditioning system pipe connectors (1b) from the expansion valve.
Seal the connectors that have been disconnected using suitable plugs to prevent dampness and impurities from entering the system.
1. Undo the bolts fixing the expansion valve.2. Extract the expansion valve.3. Keep the gaskets.
Do not reuse the gaskets when refitting.
Refitting ( Removing ) - Check that the expansion valve is not damaged.- Position the new gaskets on the expansion valve.- Place the expansion valve in position and secure it using the bolts.
Replace the O-rings on the air conditioning system connectors. Only use green coloured seals that are resistant to R134a coolant.Lubricate the connector threads using anti-freeze.
1. Connect the connectors (1a) for the air conditioning system pipes to the expansion valve and secure them tightening the nuts (1b) to the specified torque.
