Undo the bolts (1a) and the nuts (1b) and remove the precatalyzer mounting bracket (1c) together with the engine oil filter protection (1d). 1. Undo the bolts fixing the oil sump to the gearbox.2. Unscrew the bolts (2a) securing the sump to the crankcase, timing side and gearbox side, using the tool (2b).

Rotate the flywheel until the splining is aligned with the bolts fixing the sump to the crankcase, gearbox side and then insert the key (2b).

3. Undo the side bolts fixing the crankcase sump.4. Cut the sealant using the tool (4a) and remove the oil sump (4b).

Refitting ( Removing ) - Clean the residues of sealant from the mating surfaces between the engine block and the crankcase sump.- Apply a strip of silicone sealant to the contact surfaces between the crankcase sump and the engine block.

The sealant strip must be unbroken.

- Place the oil sump back in its housing.

When fitting the crankcase sump, take care not to damage the sealant strip.

Finish the installation operation within 10 minutes of applying the sealant.

- Tighten the side bolts fixing the crankcase sump.

- Tighten the bolts securing the sump to the crankcase, timing side and gearbox side, to the specified torque using the tool.

- Place the precatalyzer mounting bracket in position together with the engine oil filter protection and tighten the nuts and bolts to the recommended torque.
