FOR RIGHT HAND DRIVE VERSIONS - Straighten the front wheels, then engage the first steering lock to the right and remove the ignition key.- Keep the steering column adjustment lever closed during all the removing-refitting stages.1. Undo the bolt (1a) and disconnect the steering column (1b) from the steering box pinion.

1. Remove the retaining clip (1a), release the pin (1b) and retract the idler shaft (1c) to the left.

1. Remove the circlip securing the fork retaining pin.2. Remove the idler shaft forks, pedal assembly side.3. Remove the idler shaft complete with joints from the passenger compartment, passenger side.

- Position the idler shaft in a vice fitted with protective jaws.1. Remove the joint retaining circlip.2. Remove the joint (2b) using a suitable extractor (2a).

- Proceed in the same way for the removal of the other joints.

Refitting ( Removing

Lubricate the pins securing the forks and the joints on the idler shaft using suitable grease.

1. Fit a new joint (1b) using the tool (1a).

- Fit the joint retaining circlip.- Place the idler shaft forks in their housings, pedal mounting side using new washers.- Place the fork retining pin circlip in position.- Proceed in the same way for the refitting of the remaining joints.- Remove the idler shaft from the vice.- Place the idler shaft forks in their housings, pedal mounting side and secure them the circlip.- Place the idler shaft in its housing, fit the fork retaining pin to the brake pedal and close the retaining clip.- Connect the forks to the brake pedal using the pin and fit the retaining clip.- Connect the steering column to the steering box pinion and secure by tightening the bolt to the specified torque.
