Removing ( Refitting ) - Position the vehicle on a lift.1. Place a hydraulic lift under the rear crossmember at the position of the left-hand shock absorber.2. Undo the bolt securing the shock absorber to the suspension crossmember.
- Slowly lower the hydraulic lift until the pressure is fully released from the spring.- Remove the hydraulic lift.- Lower the vehicle and open the tailgate.1. Remove the guard for the shock absorber fastening.
1. Undo nut (1b), keeping the shock absorber stem still using tool (1a).

- Remove the shock absorber from the wheel housing compartment.1. Remove the end of travel buffer complete with dust cover (1a) from shock absorber (1b).
Refitting ( Removing ) - Place the dust cover complete with end of travel buffer in its housing.- Place the shock absorber back in its housing and, working from the luggage compartment, secure it to the body by tightening the nut to the recommended torque using the stem locking tool.

- Raise the vehicle and place a hydraulic lift under the rear crossmember at the position of the shock absorber.- Compress the spring until the shock absorber lower attachment is aligned with the opening in the crossmember.- Fasten the shock absorber to the crossmember, tightening the bolt to the recommended torque.
