The alarm system offers anti-intrusion protection: volumetric, perimeter, anti-tilt and surveillance of supply cable cutting.System operation is co-ordinated by the Body Computer, wihch sends/receives commands from external modules via the special serial line.The system is switched on/off by the remote control interfaced with a receiver in the Body Computer: the remote control and receiver are radiofrequency.
To turn the alarm off completely (for example, if the vehicle is not being used for a long time) the vehicle must be closed by turning the metal insert in the key in the lock without using the remote control.
The volumetric and anti-tilt protection can be excluded by operating a button near the front courtesy light.Every break in attempt is signalled by the code warning light in the instrument panel coming on together with a message in the display.The control unit is equipped with a self-diagnostic function which detects and memorises faults and problems in the control unit and system components; in addition, it checks the condition of the connecting cables and saves the number of activations and times the alarm has been operated.The control unit operating logic can be modified in order to satisfy the legal requirements which govern the use of alarm systems in the various markets.For more details    See descriptions 5580E ANTI-THEFT DEVICE The alarm siren is located at the front, under the wheel arch liner on the left of the engine compartment.The door lock system switches are used to monitor the doors and boot. A special separate switch detects bonnet closure.The volumetric sensors check that there are no intrusions in the vehicle. They are located in the front courtesy light: they consist of a transmitter and a receiver: the wave transmitted by one transmitter must reach the receiver of the other sensor and vice versa: otherwise an alarm signal is sent to the control unit.The anti-tilt sensor, is located in the front courtesy light; it detects the slightest variation in the angle of the vehicle in relation to either the longitudinal axis or the vertical axis.By pressing the special button next to the sensors, both sensors can be switched on/off simultaneously; with the sensors excluded an LED next to the button comes on.
