198001935 - S019 FORECARRIAGE TRANSVERSE VIBRATIONS

Whilst driving, especially on unmade roads, there are transverse vibrations at the front section. This diagnosis can only be made after    See table S015 NOISE WHILST DRIVINGCarry out the latter first.
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Having carried out the road test, during thethere is transverse vibration in the front section. Continue depending on when the vibration is present.End of diagnosisThe vibration is noticeable during take off and release.Move on to Step 5
The vibration is accompanied by noise which increases with speed.Move on to Step 2
The vibration is accompanied by noise over unmade roads.Move on to Step 1
1WHEEL SIDE CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Raise the vehicle on a two column lift and check:- that the driveshaft-wheel side joint matching is correct;- that the seal is present.Move on to Step 2Incorrect matching.Replace the constant velocity joint and the driveshaft
Sealing ring missing.Replace the constant velocity joint and the driveshaft
2INTERMEDIATE SHAFT BEARING CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check the condition of the intermediate shaft bearing.Move on to Step 3Bearing damagedReplace the intermediate shaft
3WHEEL SIDE JOINT CLEARANCE CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check that the clearance for the wheel side constant velocity joint is not too great.Move on to Step 4Excessive clearance compared with the opposite wheel side joint.Replace the wheel side constant velocity jointand carry out the correct greasing.
4WHEEL SIDE JOINT SEIZING CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Rotate the wheel by hand and check that there is no seizing of the wheel side constant velocity joint.Move on to Step 5There is seizing of the wheel side joint.Replace the constant velocity jointand carry out the correct greasing.
5WHEEL SIDE JOINT TIGHTENING CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Remove the left wheeland/or the right oneCheck that the constant velocity joint fastening nut is tightened and that the staking is in place.Move on to Step 6Nut looseningReplace the nut, restore the torque tightening and stake
6CLUTCH PLATE CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check that there is no irregular wear on the surface of the clutch plate.Move on to Step 7Surface of the clutch plate worn unevenly.Replace the assembly
7CORRECT OPERATION CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check that the fault is no longer present.End of diagnosisThe fault persistsThe fault is due to another system (engine, gearbox, differential, suspension). Search for the cause in one of these systems, following the appropriate diagnostic procedures
