1. Undo bolts (1a) and remove steering column (1b) from the crossmember under the dashboard.
The electric steering control device weighs around 11Kg. It is therefore advisable to take care when removing it.
With regards to moving the electric steering control device, follow the instructions given in Unit 41 - CAUTIONS and WARNINGS.
1. Undo bolt (1a) and disconnect intermediate spindle (1b) from steering column (1c).
Refitting ( Removing ) - Connect the intermediate spindle to the steering column and secure it with the bolt.
The intermediate shaft fork must be fitted fully home onto the electric steering control device output shaft only after having extracted the locking bolt from its housing. The retaining bolt must be correctly inserted inside its housing after having inserted the fork into the electric steering control device output shaft. An error in the insertion of the intermediate shaft fork into the output shaft or in the positioning of the safety bolt in its housing could cause the disconnection of these components and a lack of steering.
- Bring the steering control shaft to its minimum length and connect the lower fork to the steering box pinion.
With regards to moving the electric steering control device, follow the instructions given in Unit 41 - CAUTIONS and WARNINGS.
- Place the steering column in position and secure it to the crossmember under the dashboard, tightening the bolts to the recommended torque.
The electric steering control device weighs around 11Kg. It is therefore advisable to take care when refitting it.
