Removing ( Refitting )
Before removing and refitting the control unit the following preliminary operations must be carried out.
- Turn the ignition key to the OFF position and extract it;- Disconnect the battery leads and insulate them.- Wait for 10 minutes before continuing.

    Op. 7040L37 GEAR LEVER TRIM - R.R     Op. 7040L73 BOTTLE-HOLDER/ASHTRAY ON REAR TUNNEL TRIM - R.R.    Op. 7040L70 TUNNEL COVER REAR TRIM - R.R.    Op. 7040L20 TUNNEL COVER - R.R - Work on both sides.    Op. 7040A65 CONSOLE SIDE CLOSING (ONE) - R.R.- Remove the left bracket.    Op. 7040A89 REINFORCEMENT BRACKET BETWEEN DASHBOARD SUPPORTING CROSSMEMER AND BODYSHELL - R.R.1. Working on the right side, disconnect the electrical connections (1a and 1b) for the control unit.

2. Undo the bolt.
1. Working on the left side, remove the sound insulation.2. Undo the bolts.3. Remove the control unit.
Refitting ( Removing ) - Observe the following precautions.
Do not strike or shake the control unit. Do not connect the electrial connections to the control unit before having correctly secured the control unit. Make sure that the battery is disconnected.
In the case of replacement, remove the detachable part of the adhesive label from the new module and place it in the special folder containing the vehicle details (model, registration date, chassis number) and the serial number of the old control unit. The file should be kept for future checks.1. Position the control unit (1a). Make sure that the arrow (1b) on the top of the control unit is facing the direction of travel.2. Screw in the bolts and tighten them to the recommended torque.

Some of the CAN nodes, including the Air Bag control unit, are programmed with default settings that the customer will find when they purchase the vehicle. If the control unit is being replaced, the Parts Dept. will send a pristine component: once fitted, the data memorized in the Body Computer must be transferred to it by carrying out the PROXY ALIGNMENT procedure using the Examiner.
