198002787 - L026 ELECTRIC AIR PREHEATING IS NOT ACTIVATED WITH LOW EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE (Automatic air conditioning)

The outside temperature information is correctly displayed on the reconfigurable matrix and climate control system control unit.
The electrical pre-heating device (only fitted on the JTD versions) consists of two (PTC) heater coils with different resistance values which develop a maximum power of 700 W when a current passes through; when one or both of the heater coils are activated, the control unit is capable of modulating the heating.
The system can only be activated in the following circumstances:1) ignition on and climate control switched on;2) outside temperature below 20° C;3) engine coolant temperature below 64° C;4) battery charge greater than 12.2V;5) engine rpm higher than 700 rpm.
TEST RESULTS
0PRELIMINARY CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check the condition of the protective fuses for the air pre-heating supply system (electrical).Move on to Step 1.Fuse blown.Replace the blown fuse (identifying the cause of the malfunction)
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check that there is no error at PTC device operating relays.Move on to Step 2.Relay/s damagedReplace the damaged relay/s.
2CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Keeping the Examiner diagnostic equipment connected, carry out active diagnosis at the two heater coils (PTC).Move on to Step 5.Malfunction in the two PTC heater coils.Move on to Step 3.
3ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check:- that the electrical connectors are correctly inserted in their housings in the devices;- continuity/insulation of the electrical connection between the Climate Control Node, the operating relays and the heater coils (PTC);- power supply signal to the heater coils (PTC).Move on to Step 4.1. Electrical connectors incorrectly connected.2. Electrical connection broken or not insulated.3. Power supply signal missing.1. Connect the electrical connectors correctly in their housings.2. Restore the continuity/insulation of the electrical connection    See E6015 ADDITIONAL HEATER3. Move on to Step 5.
4CORRECT OPERATION CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer present.End of diagnosisThe fault persists.Replace the PTC heater coilsOp. 5020E60 ADDITIONAL HEATER P.T.C. - R.R.
5CORRECT OPERATION CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer present.End of diagnosisThe fault persists.Replace the Climate Control node    Op. 5040D15 FOG LIGHT TRIM - R.R.
