198002897 - 5530BB BATTERY VOLTAGE CHECK

The test should be carried out after the engine has been switched off for at least two hours
STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDREMEDIAL ACTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1Battery voltage at rest checkTurn the ignition key to MAR.With the engine off and all the consumers off, the battery voltage should be greater than 12 V (with the glow heater plugs off)Recharge the battery. Replace the battery if defective
2Battery voltage during start-up checkTurn the ignition key to the AVV position and check that the battery voltage is more than 10 VRecharge the battery. Replace the battery if defective
3Check alternator load when idling with loads activated-Switch on the dipped beam headlamps, -Switch on the heated rear windscreen-Switch on the air conditioning fan.-After several minutes check:With the engine idling and warmed up, with all the consumers switched off, the battery voltage should be between 12 and 14 V.The test can be considered overReplace the alternator.    Op. 5530A10 ALTERNATOR - R+R
4Check alternator load at 3000 rpm with loads activatedStart the engine and let the engine speed reach 3000 rpm.Measure the voltage between the battery positive terminal and earth, ensuring it is in a range between 13 and 14.8 V.Replace the alternator.    Op. 5530A10 ALTERNATOR - R+R
5Check voltage when idling with loads deactivatedWith the engine idling and warmed up, with all the consumers switched off, the battery voltage should be between 12 and 14 V.The test can be considered overReplace the alternator.    Op. 5530A10 ALTERNATOR - R+R
6Check alternator load at 3000 rpm with loads deactivatedStart the engine and let the engine speed reach 3000 rpm.Measure the voltage between the battery positive terminal and earth, ensuring it is in a range between 13 and 14.8 V.Replace the alternator.    Op. 5530A10 ALTERNATOR - R+R
