FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

The ignition-controlled supply (INT) for the instrument panel E50 reaches pin 3 of the Body Computer M1 via the line for fuse F37 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2.The direct power supply reaches pin 2 from the Body Computer M1 via the line for fuse F53 of the junction unit under the dashboard B2Pin 1 is earthed. The Body Computer M1 receives a direct supply from the battery via the line protected by maxifuse B99 at pin 18 of connector F of the interface with the junction unit under the dashboard B2; the ignition-controlled supply (INT) reaches pin 9 of connector F of the interface with the junction unit B2.The instrument panel E50 is connected from pins 5 and 6 with the Body Computer M1 and via the latter to the entire CAN: the signal reaches the electronic speedometer (from the ABS control unit M50) via the CAN:The ABS control unit M50 also sends a discreet speedometer signal (VSO) to pin 10 of connector A of M1The electronic rev counter, on the other hand, receives the engine rpm signal received from the engine management control unit M10 via the CAN.The fuel level gauge is controlled by means of signals coming from the level gauge located in the fuel pump assembly N40 - at pins 7 (signal) and 21 (earth) of connector D of the Body Computer M1 and from there via the CAN to the instrument panel E50.The insufficient brake fluid level/handbrake warning light is lit up by a signal from the handbrake switch I40 that reaches pin 20 of connector D of the Body Computer M1 or from the signal from the brake fluid level sensor K25 that reaches pin 24 of connector A of M1. The brake pad wear warning light is controlled on the basis of the signal that reaches pin 32 of connector B of the Body Computer M1 from the sensor K20.All these signals are transferred via the CAN to the instrument panel E50.The MODE + and - controls are located in the control unit in the centre of the dashboard, left side H90B. The reference earth reaches pin 1 of H90B from pin 36 of connector G of M1; analogue signals are sent to the instrument panel E50 to pins 13 and 16 of the instrument panel E50.
There is only one direct instrument panel connection to turn on a warning light: this is the EOBD warning light: pin 18 of E50 receives a direct earth signal generated by the diagnostic systemof engine control unit M10.    See E5030 PETROL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT or    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
The internal logic for E50, which also manages the headlamp adjustment function, sends a control signal to the motors in the lamps from pin 7 of E50, whilst the enablement signal reaches pin 8 (dipped headlamps on).    See E3080 HEADLAMP AGLINMENT CORRECTOR The Trip Computer zeroing button, located in the steering column switch unit H5, sends an earth signal to pin 9 of connector A of E50.    See E4080 TRIP COMPUTER
