198002593 - 4450A10 FRONT WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT - INCLUDES ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARY

- This check procedure must be carried out after each operation on the front suspension mechanical components since its purpose is to define the position of the wheel in relation to the body (e.g.: track control arms, struts, shock absorbers, springs etc.). OPERATING CYCLEIntroductionThe wheel geometry/angle checks must be carried out using appropriate optical equipment after checking and adjusting tyre inflation pressure to the specified values and ensuring that the vehicle respects one of the following load conditions:- “Standard 0” - vehicle unladen including spare wheel, tools, accessories and consumables with 5 litres of fuel- “Standard A” - vehicle unladen including spare wheel, tools, accessories and consumables (full tank of fuel). GEOMETRY CHECK- Check that the geometry of the front wheels is within recommended values; to measure the geometry, check the distance from the ground to the maximum point of curvature on the front wing (protrusion).

Front geometry - Protrusion height (mm)682 +/- 5(Standard 0 - SPORT version)1.4 16v TJet
TOE-IN CHECK- Check that the front wheel toe-in is within required limits.
MeasurementValueValidity
Front wheel toe in (mm)-1 +/- 1(Standard A and Standard 0)
- If the front wheel toe-in value is not within the recommended figures, adjust it according to the instructions given below.- Make sure that the steering wheel is perfectly straight and lock it using a suitable tool.- Loosen the nuts securing the left and right steering links.- Tighten or loosen the steering links until the toe-in is correct, keeping the front wheels aligned.
After adjustment, the number of free threads on the right steering rod should be the same as the number of free threads on the left rod.
- Tighten the nuts securing the left-hand and right-hand steering rods to the recommended torque.

- Remove the tool used to lock the steering wheel. CAMBER CHECK
The front wheel camber cannot be adjusted. If the reading is not within specified values, check the lower wishbone and the body.
- Check that the front wheel camber is within required limits.
MeasurementValueValidity
Front wheel camber (degrees)- 40’ +/- 30’(Standard A and Standard 0)
CASTER CHECK
The front wheel caster cannot be adjusted. If the reading is not within specified values, check the lower track control arm and the body.
- Check that the front wheel caster is within required limits.
